With informative statistics and detailed maps, this graphic is simply vital for anyone wishing to carry a knife for self protection. Based on the graphic, 13 states prohibit residents and citizens from carrying ballistic knives. These states these knives are illegal in are Washington, Idaho, California, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.
Carrying concealed or open switchblades are also illegal in several states. This includes Washington, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Alaska, Colorado, New Mexico, and Kansas. Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee, and North Carolina also prohibit its citizens from carrying switchblades. Wrapping up the list where switchblades are illegal are Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
The infographic also highlights Georgia and its state laws regarding knives. Based on the graphic, you are allowed to carry open knives in Georgia. These knives, however, must be less than 5 inches long. In terms of carrying concealed knives, several states have their own laws. Washington, Nevada, Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois, Louisiana, Florida, Michigan, and North Carolina allow concealed knives that are 3 inches and above to be carried. Maine, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware also have similar laws.
In Kentucky and West Virginia, you must have a registered license to carry a knife that is 3 inches or above. Montana, Kansas, Missouri, and Tennessee also require licenses for knives that are 4 inches or above. North Dakota, Iowa, and Georgia require licenses for concealed knives that are 5 inches or above.
