MIR Apparel, based in BROOKLYN, NY, features designs inspired by Russian Criminal Tattoo Art, printed on t-shirts, hoodies, dresses, etc. This Soviet-era art and subculture was at it's most popular between 1930-1970. In the face of the Communist machine, men and women who didn't believe the hype, tattooed symbols of anti-authority and criminal lifestyle onto their flesh. Symbols that were meant to separate them from the "sheep" and prove that they didn't sell their soul to the government. These images etched onto their skin forever marked these men and women as part of a society that lived by it's own codes and laws.
