What You Need to Know About Affordable Healthcare
Americans are Losing Hope for Affordable Healthcare

Care Pilot recently launched a new infographic on America’s healthcare system. With timely facts and figures, this informative piece is vital for anyone seeking affordable and dependable healthcare within the U.S. Based on the graphic, “America’s healthcare system is neither healthy, caring, nor a system.” This famous quote is courtesy of the late and great CBS News anchor, Walter Cronkite.

According to the infographic, today’s down and struggling economy has made it impossible for consumers to afford monthly health insurance premiums. Many consumers are unable to afford the high cost of seeing doctors as well. As medical costs continue to soar, countless Americans have simply given up the hope of affordable and centralized healthcare. While Obamacare is set to go into fruition in 2014, many American families continue to struggles with the high costs of medical care and treatments.

As the economy continues its downward spiral, the commercial sector has been affected as well. In fact, for firms that employ fewer than 10 employees; only 50% of them offered medical coverage to their workers in 2012. Whether you have private, public, or employer based insurance, you are still not exempt from high costs and fees at every turn. Based on the graphic, the health plan premium costs per employee is around $11, 188.00. While employee contributions to health plans are approximately $2,385.00, their out of pocket expenses number around $2,429. This, of course includes co-pays, co-insurance costs, and especially costly and high deductibles.

According to the 2013 Health Care Cost Estimations, the average American family of four who is covered through an employer health plan will pay out $9,144.00 this year in premiums and out-of-pocket expenses. These figures are courtesy of Milliman Medical Index. Since last 2012, out-of-pocket health premiums have increased by 6.5%. In fact, monthly premiums and out-of-pocket expenses cost the average American simply way more than they can afford. Similarly, baby boomers with inadequate health care policies are less likely to report good health. In fact, many of them are inclined and due suffer from hypertension, obesity, diabetes, and multiple types of cancer.

In terms of the healthcare cost breakdown, hospital care accounts for nearly 1/3 of the nation’s annual health care expenditures. The cost of physician care, both to insurance and patients, has risen 1.3% during the past year. Innovative technologies also account for nearly 50% of U.S. healthcare spending growth. 51% of lab and clinical testing representatives expect an increase in demand within the next 3-5 years.

When it comes to drugs and pharmaceuticals, 48.5% of Americans fill at least one prescription per month. While making lifestyle and health choices is important, researchers predict a 42% increase in preventable diseases cases by 2023. This will add $4.2 trillion in medical treatment costs and lost economic outputs. While countless families want to secure the best medical coverage possible, many of them simply do not understand their deductibles. For example: low monthly premiums are great but usually have higher deductibles. Similarly, higher monthly premiums are difficult to afford but do carry smaller deductibles.

In a nutshell, the American healthcare system is simply in shambles. Unless everyone can benefit from guaranteed healthcare with low costs, the nation will continue to suffer with overwhelming health costs and fees. According to the info-graphic, health care must be affordable, easier, convenient, and designed to fit your budget. Even those with financial constraints or zero income are entitled to medical coverage across the nation.
