Distance Learning Uses New Infograph to Expose Truths of Air Pollution

Airing Out the Truths of Air Pollution
The new infograph "Airing Out the truths of Air Pollution" gathers facts about indoor and outdoor air pollution and how it is harming the earth.

According to the World Health Organization, air pollution is the contamination of the indoor and outdoor environment by any chemical (physical or biological) agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere. For Distance Learning, it's important to make note of these truths so people are better educated about pollution and will hopefully create passionate people that are earth-conscious.

Air pollution is a major environmental health concern of developed and developing countries, due the the industrialization happening in those areas. Indoor air pollution causes around 2 million premature deaths in developing countries, and urban outdoor air pollution is the cause of 1.3 million deaths worldwide a year. Unfortunately, half of all pollution-related deaths are due to pneumonia in children under the age of 5 years old.

Distance Learning wants readers to pass the infographic through email, social media and by word of mouth to raise awareness on such a devastating issue. In fact, if everyone who read the infograph contributed to cleaner air, it would add roughly 4 months to an average person's life span. However, more than 131.8 million people in in countries that receive an F from environmental groups for either ozone or particle pollution, which are linked to increased risk of lower birth weights in newborns.

Of all cancer risks, air pollution is associated 90 percent caused by transportation sources such as cars, semi trucks, boats, busses and trains. Cutting air pollution through various, go-green environmental solutions can save almost $2 trillion annually by 2020.
