The Detroit Diesel Corporation recently unveiled its newest toy, and On-Board Tablet.
The device is an advanced mobile device that is equipped with a apps that streamline communication, and the On-Board Tablet utilizes the latest in commercial telematics technology in order to boost efficiency and driver capabilities, according to sales and marketing manager of the Detroit Connect for Daimler Trucks North America, Joe Saccio.
The developer in collaboration with Zonar, the device will connect with the Detroit Virtual Technician and Visibility fleet software. The tablet is certified as compliant with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Hours of Services regulations. The tablet is also designed for Freightliner and Western Star models of fleet trucks, and will be mountable on any cab easily.
“The On-Board Tablet is an intuitive tool that will help our customers and their drivers maximize operations while ensuring compliance with the new FMCSA regulations,” Saccio said. “The tablet is just one of a suite of proven solutions from Detroit Connect that seamlessly links vehicles with engineers, customer service and fleet managers, improving communication and ultimately benefiting productivity and product quality.”
The tablet will be capable of logging reports, two-way messages, text to voice/voice to text, and advanced navigating assets for specific routing when necessary.
The device will utilize an Android platform, and will be portable-size with an added durable casing for handling. It will include a video recorder and Bluetooth technology, along with a color touchscreen display for hours-of-service clocks.
“From truck uptime to fuel efficiency and safety and security, the On-Board Tablet has all of the right tools that give our customers the most accurate information to make decisions that can positively impact their business,” Saccio said. “Detroit Connect provides drivers and managers the ability to link to their trucks anytime, anywhere.”
