Graham Penny Auctions took home the bronze and silver award at the property industry Negotiator Awards this week. The glitzy national awards ceremony was held at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London this year and the Derby auction house was shortlisted alongside eight other national operations.
The company's Nottingham office manager, Abigail Selwood, found herself on stage to receive the bronze award in the Rising Star of the Year category and in the Residential Auction House of the Year category, the St James Street firm was the silver award winner.
Many leading lights of the property industry were gathered at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel for the black-tie event. "I'm delighted to have been given this national recognition by our industry peers,” said auctioneer, Graham Penny. "To have been one of three finalists in a category of only nine shortlisted auction houses is such an achievement. Our whole team works tirelessly to provide an excellent service to our customers, so to be recognized in the Auction House of the Year category makes all that hard work even more worthwhile. I am particularly proud of Abigail for securing her bronze award. The success of the Nottingham office is largely down to her drive and determination and the energy she instills in her team."
To promote best practice in the residential property market and celebrate industry excellence the Negotiator Awards are held annually. Residential auction figures for July to August were recently published that showed Graham Penny Auctions, a Derby firm, sold 51% of all property auction lots offered in the East Midlands.
The company has expanded to Leicester and Nottingham from its Derby roots and has grown to dominate the region's property auction market. Graham Penny Auctions holds 21 auctions each year; in Leicester at the King Power Stadium, Derby's Pride Park Stadium and the Nottingham Racecourse.
