A new study by a survey company called InfoScout, found that Apple’s iPad Air 16Gb was the top device sold at the two most major retailers, Walmart and Target, on Black Friday, with two other iPads coming in second and third at Target alone.
Not related, the Black Friday Survey conducted by the Consumer Electronics Association found that tablets were the most-purchased consumer electronics item, which is expected to be a positive chunk in revenue for Apple.
Gene Munster, a Piper Jaffray analyst of Black Friday and Cyber Monday tweets show that the iPad and iPhone “appear to be the top gifts of 2013”. According to his analysis, an impressive one percent of tweets containing the hashtag “#BlackFriday” mentioned the iPad, and .31 percent of the tweets containing “#CyberMonday” mentioned the iPhone. This makes the Apple products the top two-most mentioned products for the two respective holidays.
Apple should be expecting over 24.5 million (or 7 year-over-year growth), as that original expectation is rather conservative giving the information from the analytics.
Candot Fitzgerald analyst Brian White is also optimistic of the number of electronics bought for next year. According to him, electronics was the second-most shopped for category, just behind clothing, and the tablet is the most popular in that sector.
