Texas to Become Third Coast in Biotechnology

AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Institute (THBI) announced the schedule of topics for its inaugural statewide Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Summit, taking place in Austin, Texas, on June 4-5, 2014, chaired by Health and Human Services Commissioner, Dr. Kyle Janek.

While many stakeholders in the bioscience industry have the BIO International Convention in San Diego already on their calendars; as a separate, regional event, THBI is hosting this Texas-focused summit to serve as a precursor exploring how Texas plans to position itself as an industry leader both nationally and globally over the next decade and become recognized as the “Third Coast in Biotechnology”.

Highly esteemed industry leaders and legislators are coming together to present a robust schedule of key topics impacting researchers, businesses, investors, and legislators. Sessions include:

On Wednesday evening, June 4th, THBI will honor Texas House of Representatives Speaker Joe Straus for his impact in the field, supporting legislation that fosters medical advancements through research, development and innovation. Joel Allison, CEO, Baylor Health Care System and Baylor Scott & White Health, serves as the keynote speaker.
