Rabbi Shlomo Braun, Founder & Director of Aleh Foundation Addresses Orthodox Jewish Political Club

Close to 100 active civic and business leaders attended a monthly gathering of OJPC on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Beth Israel Catering Hall in Brooklyn.

Rabbi Shlomo Braun was invited to address the gathering and extended encouragement and support for the energetic group of future political honchos. Braun stressed that in 1970 when he first got involved in politics and became a captain at the Roosevelt Democratic Club there were barely a handful of orthodox people who took an interest in the political field. “Seeing tonight 100 enthusiastic young and middle-aged men taking an interest in American politics is most encouraging,” said Rabbi Braun.

Issues of discussion were: Affordable housing for senior citizens and young families in the community; Economic development and assistance for small businesses and the threat of casinos in the orthodox community of the Catskill Mountains.

Mendy Reiner was the Chairperson of the event; Yossi Gross discussed the OJPC Platform and Moishe Friedman explained the upcoming petition process to help candidates qualify to be on the ballot. Nachman Caller, a distinguished attorney gave an update on the casino situation in the Catskills.

The participants enjoyed a lavish buffet cocktail throughout the evening.
