Ridgefield, NJ, 4th August, 2014. The concern for the well being of Veterans is at an all time high right now and the Patriot Brass Ensemble has been taking the reigns to do their part to create a better quality of life for Veterans in long-term care. The ensemble will be on a national tour dedicated to performing for Veterans. Patriot Bass is the only unit of its kind in the United States, and the non-profit provides their concerts for free of charge to Veterans in long term care.
They are proud to partner with local VA and state homes for Veterans to brighten their lives in ways only the music of the Veterans service can. “We have seen how music has an amazing ability to transport our Veterans in long term care to a better mental state. Even if only temporarily, it helps give them a better outlook,” says Patriot Brass executive director Steven Behnke.
The Patriot Brass Ensemble will perform over twenty-four free public concerts for Veterans, along with some public concerts on their first annual national #BrassMusic4Vets tour. These musicians will bring music to Veterans in long-term care at no charge to state or VA homes for Veterans due to the generous backing from their tour sponsors and donors.
The tour is set to stop at state and VA homes for Veterans in New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia. The last six performances of the tour will be recorded to create a DVD that will be distributed for free to every state and VA home for Veterans in the country.
The Patriot Brass Ensemble, founded in 2010, is the first and only professional brass ensemble dedicated to performing for Veterans. The ensemble started in Ridgefield, NJ to support local events for Veterans and eventually grew to a non-profit with units in 14 cities across the country, performing over 140 times every year. Executive director Steven Behnke says, “Music enriches the soul for these Veterans who live their lives in long term care, we bring the concert to them so they can experience that powerful patriotic brass and percussion they love so much.” They plan to expand this tour to include every home for Veterans in the United States annually.
