The festival featured shorts, documentaries, animation, music videos and feature films.

“This years impressive line up included films, both foreign and domestic, documentaries, shorts and children’s programs. We pride ourselves on showing the "Best of the Best" in independent films and Max is an excellent screenplay - compelling, full of suspense, intriguing storyline - well deserving of the Best Screenplay award,” said Marti Connell, Filmmaker Liaison Director of the California Independent Film Festival

Producer, Linda Kruse, accepted the SLATE Award for Max’s Fantastic Adventures, on behalf of the Writer / Director Jonathan Bucari and Producer Carina Rush. The Well of Lost Souls is the first of three installments of the Max’s Fantastic Adventures series.

In The Well of Lost Souls, Jonathan Bucari writes a family adventure classic from start to finish. A group of young adventurers in small town America stumble onto a mystery over 200 years old and everything begins to unravel. It’s this generation’s version of the 1985 pre-teen classic, The Goonies.  The ultimate boyhood adventure: It’s Super 8 meets ET with a dash of Indiana Jones and Stand by Me - all rolled into one fantastic adventure the whole family will love.

Max also won “Official Selection” at the New Hampshire Film Festival earlier this year.
