Fashion & Dance Showcase Benefit for Homeless GLBTQI Youth in Washington, DC
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sharewellnewswire.com) September 4, 2012 – On Sunday, September 23, 2012, the Oasis Dance Company will premier The Affair – Bow Ties & Pumps, its 2nd annual dance and fashion charitable benefit showcase in support of the homeless gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, queer, questioning & intersex (GLBTQI) youth of Washington, DC. This year’s event will showcase six new dances alongside fashion designers from MD, DC, LA and NY. The evening’s benefit show will raise funds for Transgender Health Empowerment’s (THE) Wanda Alston House and will be at held at the THEARC Theater, located at 1901 Mississippi Ave, SE in Washington, DC. There will be a Cocktail Reception sponsored by Tito’s Vodka which will include a Red Carpet hosted by radio personality and GLBTQI activist Simply Nay at 6:30 p.m., followed by the benefit showcase at 7:30 p.m. General Admission is $30 and V.I.P. Admission is $50.
In addition to the evening’s festivities, Oasis Dance Company will recognize community leaders for their distinguished service to GLBTQI youth in the DC Metropolitan area. The 2012 honorees for the evening are:

- Sampson McCormick – Comedian & LGBTQIA Advocate
- Kenya Hutton – LGBTQIA Youth Advocate

- David Mariner – Executive Director of The DC Center
- Rev. Aaron Wade – Pastor of Community Church of Washington, DC
Also in attendance will be approximately 250 trailblazers in the industries of GLBTQI activism, fashion, entertainment, arts, business & politics as well as a tastemaker crowd of invited celebrities including Anthony Burrell & America’s Next Top Model’s Isis King & Bianca Chardei, artists, athletes and key political, philanthropic and social figures. Guests are asked to dress in their chicest bow ties and pumps which will culminate with a Best Dressed Contest. The event will boast a great mix of food, libations and entertainment & fashion.
