Los Angeles, CA, USA (August 7, 2013) -- Meeghan Henry won the Christopher Kennedy Lawford Humanitarian Award at the first ever Entrepreneur on the Move (EOTM) Awards. This is Henry's first nomination and win for a humanitarian award. The 18-year-old, now live in Azusa, was the youngest to be nominated in the category, being recognized for her work with young kids in promoting her platform of living above the influence, which entails anti-bullying, anti-drinking, anti-drugs, and anti-peer pressure.
"This award just validates all the work that I've done to promote living above the influence and speaking to kids at schools all around Southern California," the goodwill and cultural ambassador said during her acceptance speech. "I started as Miss Teen Asia USA in 2011 and have been working ever since then. This just motivates me to keep doing what I do."
The former pageant queen has attended many events for charities and organizations, such as Day of the Child and Celebrities Against Bullying (CAB), to promote her platform and send a message of "not succumbing to society's pressures to have a 'fun' life."
Henry was also nominated for Best Pop Song at the EOTMs for her song When I'm 18, her debut single and debut album title.
Henry later performed her hit song Crash A Party as the closing of the show.
The pop starlet is now joining forces with NSync's very own JC Chasez and Golden Globe award-winning producer Jimmy Harry in a super girl group named Girl Radical. She was signed in late 2012, which caused her to delay the release of her second album. She is also still Junior status attending University of La Verne, having switched her major to compliment her entrance into the pre-law program.
The EOTM Awards is an organization that recognizes entrepreneurs who have been working hard and leaving their marks in the entertainment world, with categories ranging from Best Internet Blogger to Best Indie Horror Film to Best Supporting Actor/Actress in a Soap Opera.
