Miami Beach/Fl. July 25 - Celebrating its first decade; Miami Beach-Mercedes Benz Fashion Week has grown into a flawless adornment to complement Swim Show & Lingerie Show; its predecessor by twenty years. If Swim Show ™ is the cake, Fashion Week ™ is the delectable icing on that sweet confection. The melding of the two world class events are a hand in glove fit; befitting of what has evolved into the largest and most significant swim and resort wear trade show and party extravaganza in the world.

Swimwear Week showcases fashion with a melding of some of the most renowned chefs and mixologists while drawing inspiration from au courant beach culture from Mumbai to Dubai and over sixty countries in between. Among the stand outs were the evocative collection of Dolores Cortez , Frankie’s Bikini’s Malibu and Sinesia Karol by Ana Paula Castro, creator of the Harmony and Impulse Collection.

Unfolding on the Raleigh Hotel’s Penthouse Terrace was indisputably the most gracefully orchestrated gathering to date. Pierre Jouet Grand Brut flowed freely, snappy bites of ceviche in endive boats were sampled and hand stitched tapestry books were gifted to the exclusive guest list who had deftly passed the gauntlet of gate keepers. 

“Unlike the pubescent ingénues packed like ‘sardinitas’ in strappy sandals and demure flowing frocks, MB Fashion Week has grown up,” according to Michael Faircloth of the Ultimate Island Guide ( a seasoned South Beach resident and global photographer. “This is no longer the stress fueled MB Fashion Week’s early adolescence”. The event has evolved to become a calmly calibrated, masterful and mannerly occasion. Business is conducted to the perfect purr of a Swiss time piece. Coiffed hostesses in Breakfast at Tiffany black sheaths peruse their clipboards while smartly turned out attendees patiently chat up the person nearby, digital cameras and devices in hand.

“Is there any event in the world more documented than Fashion Week? One is inundated with eye candy and frothy fashion at every turn,” comments Vasiliki Karlin of and maker of Nayked Botanicals, the de rigueur line of organic skin care products. The Greek beauty and esthetician confirms she attends, “more to discover the latest beauty trends and products than for the fashion per se.” Among the highlights on the beauty scene are the Tres Somme Hair Care and Ford Artists Beauty Bars featuring Kinara Skin Care Products.

Before this year’s edition of MB Fashion week gives up the ghost, mark the calendar for a highly anticipated inaugural launch of the Fashion X Music Event Series a multi media inaugural show at SLS Hyde Beach, This coming Saturday, July 26 by Fury Advertising, Media for the U Generation.
